Raymond Hosts the Shop With a Cop Event
On Tuesday, December 6th, the Raymond Auto Group and the Village of Antioch Police Department hosted over 50 local children for their annual Shop with a Cop event. For over 20 years two have partnered to hold this event.
Each year, the Antioch Police Department works with nearby schools to identify deserving families with children between the ages of five and twelve years old. These children and their families met at Raymond Chevrolet and Kia on Route 173 in Antioch for a pizza party, with food provided by Johnny’s Snack Shop. There was even a special visit from Santa Claus! Each Raymond Auto Group employee drew a participating child’s name and purchased a gift for that child, which Santa gave them. From there police officers escorted them to Walmart where they helped the kids shop for holiday presents.
“The Antioch community never fails to amaze me with its generosity,” said Antioch Police Chief Geoffrey Guttschow. “Mark Scarpelli and his staff at the Raymond Auto Group continue to step up and support this program with time and money. Without Mark’s support, “Shop with a Cop” would not happen. His generosity has allowed us to grow the shopping spree amount per child from $100 to $125, plus each family will be provided a $100 gift card toward a traditional holiday meal.”
The entire Raymond Auto Group staff was moved by the children and families who participated in this year’s event. Being able to help make the holidays a little more special for those in need in the Antioch community is extremely rewarding. Mark Scarpelli and the Raymond team hope to continue this wonderful event for years to come!
